Opportunity HeadQuarters, Inc.

Two years ago, Home HeadQuarters established Opportunity Headquarters, Inc., a non-profit affiliate that is principally dedicated to providing construction apprentice training opportunities for low-and moderate-income individuals interested in securing permanent employment in the construction trade while supporting the creation of new or green housing for underserved people or neighborhoods as a way to strengthen communities. Home HeadQuarters recruited a local homebuilder with more than 20 years of experience in new construction and substantial rehabilitation in the Syracuse area to become the Construction Project Manager for Opportunity Headquarters. Under his leadership, Opportunity Headquarters has substantially impacted Home HeadQuarters' capacity to complete real estate development projects by increasing its ability to control costs, quality and project schedules. In FY10, Opportunity Headquarters completed construction on seven new homes, substantially rehabilitated one home, successfully finished the complete remodel of 10,000 sq. ft. of Home HeadQuarters' new office space and graduated two construction apprentices. With the changes in the federal EPA lead rules, Opportunity HeadQuarters became an EPA certified Lead Contractor. This has further increased our ability to control project costs, quality and timelines.
