2013 Block Blitz - Want to make a difference?

Home HeadQuarters hosts a one-day all volunteer event where hundreds of people from area schools, businesses, churches, other non-profit organizations, construction trades and more donate their time, labor, money and materials to help improve the homes in city of Syracuse and Auburn neighborhoods.

Volunteers work up a sweat side-by-side with skilled contractors and homeowners painting, landscaping, repairing, cleaning and everything else in between for one hour or all day, as part of a team or as an individual.

Friday, September 13th, 9am-4pm
Target neighborhood: Syracuse's Near Northeast
                                     (700-900 Blocks of Hawley Ave)

How it works:

Volunteers are welcome to work any "shift" and may sign up for a morning slot, an afternoon slot or the whole day. Lunch is provided for all volunteers. Volunteers can work on any available project and are asked to bring their own work gloves and to dress appropriately (dirt, paint and weather!). Corporate teams can work where needed or on their company's sponsored project, if there is one. Corporate teams can also participate in the "unofficial" team t-shirt contest.

Types of volunteer activities include:

Planting trees and plants
Painting porches
Painting foundations
Replacing porches
Building steps
Planting bulbs
Moving dirt
Cleaning up debris

  Installing fences
Installing windows
Installing mailboxes
Building sheds
Installing shutters
Painting houses and garages
