The 5 Sisters
The 5 Sisters historic development project is a unique public/private/not-for-profit partnership to restore five Queen Anne-style homes on the city’s near Westside to their former grandeur. Anchoring one end of the Park Avenue neighborhood near Middle Ages Brewery, across from Leavenworth Park and only a five minute walk from Armory Square, the five homes were abandoned and in derelict condition when Home HeadQuarters took ownership.
With support from the Syracuse Neighborhood Initiative, city of Syracuse, National Grid and with technical support from Crawford and Stearns Architects, Home HeadQuarters restored the exteriors of all the properties to historic standards. Private developer Time Cap Development then purchased the properties and fully rehabilitated the interiors to single-family residences. The properties, which showcase the best of both worlds—Victorian exteriors with new home interiors—are now available for sale to interested owner-occupants.
