Certified Homebuyer Education Course
Home HeadQuarters' nationally-certified ten-hour class is where you will learn everything you need to know about the homebuying process from start to finish. There is a $35 materials fee for the class, which you must pay to sign up for the class. There is also a $215 class fee that you will not be charged for until you receive Home HeadQuarters' Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance. Our program is open to anyone interested in buying a home, regardless of income or where you want to live.

We offer classes at varying times throughout the week so you can choose the one that best fits your schedule. Classes are not offered every week so please call or email Home HeadQuarters for the next available class.

Class Times:

• Tuesday/Thursday Morning Class 9:30am – 11:30am - $35
• Monday/Thursday Evening Class 6:00pm – 8:00pm - $35
• Saturday Express Class 9:00 am – 4:00pm - $35
• Spanish Session – available by request, call for more information.

You will also meet with a trained housing counselor for individual counseling during your class session.

Upon graduation from the class, once you have meet with a counselor, you will receive a course completion certificate that never expires. This certificate is required by area lenders who offer special first-time homebuyer loan products. Home HeadQuarters also requires the certificate to be eligible for our Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance. To sign up for the Homebuyer Education Course, you must first attend a HomeOwnership Orientation Workshop.

NEW:  Down-payment assistance grants for first-time home buyers:         
Home HeadQuartes has joined the statewide effort through NYS-DHCR and is participating in the Assets for Independence (AFI) matched-savings for down-payment assistance for income-eligible first-time home buyers.  Applications for grants up to $7,500 are available in this office (funding provided by NYS-DHCR). For more information on AFI, visit the DHCR web site to view an AFI video or print an AFI brochure.
