Access to Home
Assists homeowners or tenants, with landlord approval, with accessibility modifications to either prevent institutionalization or to allow the disabled to return home from an institution. This program is implemented in partnership with ARISE, Enable, Loretto and the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth. Applications for this program are available at partner agencies only. Deferred loans of up to $25,000 are available and may need to be matched with a portion of a payback loan. This is a limited grant funded through the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal.

UNPA Home Improvement Loan Program
Loans for exterior home improvement of up to $10,000 for a term of up to 7 years at a 2.99% interest rate– 3.562% APR (Annual Percentage Rate). Homeowner must live in home for the term of the loan. Anyone can apply regardless of income level. Must be current on property taxes and water bills and must have homeowners insurance.

Syracuse Homeowner Assistance Repair Program (SHARP)
Assists low-income homeowners with minor home repairs and helps to cure minor code violations. Homeowners are responsible for a 10% contribution to the total job cost. Total job cost cannot exceed $1,000. Homeowners must live in home and meet income eligibility, be current on property taxes and water bills and have current homeowners insurance.

Low Interest Loans & Mini-Grants. Buy a new home and join the neighborhood! Make needed improvements to your home! Improve the overall appearance of your neighborhood! All programs are available regardless of income and are first come, first served. If you are interested in applying for a mini-grant you must attend a SUN informational session.
