Syracuse, NY -- Home HeadQuarters, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building better neighborhoods through homeownership, is celebrating National NeighborWorks® Week, June 7th-June 14th, with a series of events open to the public. NeighborWorks® Week, now in its 20th year, is a celebration of the accomplishments of the more than 200 not-for-profit housing organizations located throughout 49 states that make up the NeighborWorks® network. During NeighborWorks® Week, residents, business people, government officials and other volunteers work side by side to complete projects or take part in activities that help improve their communities.
Nationally, the NeighborWorks® Network of housing organizations generated nearly $1.7 billion for affordable housing and community development, helped 67,300 lower-income families purchase, improve and maintain their homes and provided pre- and post-purchase homebuyer counseling to 72,400 families.
In Syracuse since 1996, Home HeadQuarters has provided more than 740 first-time homebuyers with Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance, counseled close to 3,000 prospective homebuyers and generated more than $44.6 million in home purchase mortgage financing. Home HeadQuarters was recently honored by Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, the founder of NeighborWorks® Week, as one of the Top 25 National HomeOwnership Producers in the NeighborWorks® Network for a five-year homeownership campaign.
