PEACE, Inc. is Onondaga County’s federally designated Community Action Agency. As part of the national network of Community Action Agencies, PEACE, Inc. seeks to help people become more self-sufficient by strengthening families, improving the conditions in which people live, encouraging people to own a stake in their own community, and developing partnerships with other organizations, businesses, and individuals to support these efforts. 


Using state of the art technology, Lead Safe, LLC provides lead testing, lead-based paint risk assessment, inspection, job specification development, clearance examination and consulting services.

CNY Fair Housing

CNY Fair Housing is an independent, not-for-profit that works to create equal housing opportunity and eliminate housing discrimination for all people through the enforcement of housing discrimination laws, education on the rights and responsibilities in the housing market and advocacy to create and sustain diverse neighborhoods.

Housing Visions

A sustainable neighborhood revitalization company. Northeast Hawley Development Association

The Northeast Hawley Development Association, Inc. (NEHDA) is a not-for-profit community housing development agency committed to revitalizing and stabilizing the northeast sector of Syracuse.

Syracuse United Neighbors

Syracuse United Neighbors (SUN) is a grassroots community organization, established in 1977 and dedicated to improving the lives of families living in the neighborhoods on the south, southwest and near-west sides of Syracuse, N.Y. SUN is a member of the National People’s Action (NPA) organizing network, a coalition of neighborhood groups from over 30 states that work on changing national policies that have a direct effect on local neighborhoods.

Syracuse Model Neighborhoods Corporation

SMNC is a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1972. Today SMNC owns and manages 232 units in 99 buildings. This represents a real estate portfolio worth approximately five million dollars. The housing stock includes residential housing and several shelter units. SMNC’s rent structure is geared toward low-income residents.

Syracuse Housing Authority

The Syracuse Housing Authority is located in Syracuse, New York and exists to provide quality, safe and affordable housing, to create opportunities for residents' self sufficiency and economic independence, and to empower individual potential in an environment where people want to live, work, and build communities. Syracuse Housing Authority owns and manages 15 housing developments with over 2,500 apartments. Just over half the apartments are designated for the elderly or disabled with the remainder set aside for families. The Syracuse Housing Authority operates the tenant based housing choice voucher program which provides subsidies to private landlords on behalf of more than 3,000 low income families.

Christopher Community

Christopher Community is a not-for profit development and management company that specializes in promoting senior and elderly housing facilities in upstate New York. Founded in 1971, we have a proven track record, with 30 professional management personnel skilled in all phases of management such as accounting, leasing, personnel, governmental reporting, building operations, and the provision of social services to residents.

We provide federal rental subsidies for families, individuals, seniors and the disabled to live in private housing in towns and villages throughout Onondaga County under the Section 8 program. Christopher Community also provides administrative support for the Chadwick Residence, a transitional home for homeless women and children.

Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems

SyracuseCoE is a federation of firms, organizations, and institutionsthat creates innovations to improve health, productivity, security, and sustainability in built and urban environments. Activities within SyracuseCoE include research, product development, commercialization assistance, and education programs. The scope of application interests include systems that monitor and control thermal comfort, air quality, lighting, sound, and water quality in built and urban environments and innovative energy systems, including clean technologies and renewable fuel sources

Near Westside Initiative

The Syracuse Art, Literacy, Technology (SALT) District of the Near Westside is directed by the Near Westside Initiative Inc. (NWSI), a not-for-profit organization that leverages the resources of SU, the state, the city, private foundations, businesses, not-for-profit corporations, and neighborhood residents to achieve its goals.  A creative community is converging here to foster economic development, jobs and stability for the neighborhood, and rich academic experiences for SU students. Within this neighborhood, the premise that art and culture can unite to create a revitalized community is being tested and is proving to be true.

Syracuse University South Side Initiative

The mission of the Syracuse University South Side Initiative is to identify and manage community-university partnership projects that contribute to the revitalization of the south side of Syracuse, and provide academic and scholarly opportunities to Syracuse University faculty and students.

Tipp Hill Neighborhood Association

The Tipp Hill Neighborhood Association is a community group dedicated to the revitalization of the the Tipperary Hill neighborhood located on the City of Syracuse's Far Westside. 

Northside Urban Partnership (UP)

The mission of the Northside Urban Partnership (Northside UP) is to improve the quality of life for Syracuse city residents, particularly within its Near Northside neighborhoods.
